“This is a short film about the inland waterways around the Manchester area. The canals were used to transport materials during the industrial revolution to the great warehouses in Manchester and coal to the cotton mills. Now used extensively for leisure they provide peace and tranquility and a haven for wildlife. They all have there own names, Ashton to Huddersfield and Peak Forrest Canal for example. But to the people who lived and worked on them they were simply known as….. THE CUT.”
