Baixa Chiado Cinematic Poem Promotional Short Film Directed by Victor Gouhie 2017

Poem by: Eugénio De Andrade

“Someone says slowly:
Lisbon, You know…?
I know. It’s a girl
Barefoot and light,
A sudden and clear wind
In her hair,
Some thin wrinkles
Peaking her eyes.
The open solitude
On the lips and fingers,
Going down and steps
And steps up to the rivers.”

“To the body and mind which have been cramped by noxious work or company, nature is medicinal and restores their tone. The tradesman, the attorney comes out of the din and craft of the street and sees the sky and the woods, and is a man again. In their eternal calm, he finds himself.”

From “Nature” by Ralph Waldo Emerson

” “IN THE WOODS” is a collaboration between designer Kai D Utility and myself. We originally set out to shoot a short look book film about escaping to the woods, only to find (after the fact) our images matched perfectly with excerpts from “Nature” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

We decided to turn our look book film into a homage to the concept of Transcendentalism. The appreciation and need for nature is even more alive today, then it was in the 1820s. We hope this video motivates you to take that weekend trip you’ve been planning, but have yet to take.”

I Like For You To Be Still Cinematic Poem Short Film Directed By Camille Marotte 2017

“I Like For You To Be Still” by Pablo Neruda

I like for you to be still
It is as though you are absent
And you hear me from far away
And my voice does not touch you
It seems as though your eyes had flown away
And it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth
As all things are filled with my soul
You emerge from the things
Filled with my soul
You are like my soul
A butterfly of dream
And you are like the word: Melancholy

I like for you to be still
And you seem far away
It sounds as though you are lamenting
A butterfly cooing like a dove
And you hear me from far away
And my voice does not reach you
Let me come to be still in your silence
And let me talk to you with your silence
That is bright as a lamp
Simple, as a ring
You are like the night
With its stillness and constellations
Your silence is that of a star
As remote and candid

I like for you to be still
It is as though you are absent
Distant and full of sorrow
So you would’ve died
One word then, One smile is enough
And I’m happy;
Happy that it’s not true.

“We are all on the journey we call life;
And as it unrolls before us, day after day,
We never know where it will lead.
It seems we spend our lives trying to
Capture life’s special moments.
To hold on to forever.”

Skygarden Cinematic Poem Short Film Trailer in Switzerland Directed by Fabian Weber 2017

“Auditory perception is triggered by tonal phenomenona, such as language and music. These stimuli are the gateway to recent and distant memories of all kinds, the sequences of pleasant and often unpleasant experiences that shape and accompany us throughout our lives. They are part of us and make us who we are today.

An emotional homage to Switzerland, nature, music and life in all its facets.”

The Female Bond Cinematic Poem Short Film For She's Mercedes Directed by Aldona Kwiatkowski 2017

Poem by: Jacqueline Suskin

“There is no better bond than ours: female friendship and mutual support from childhood on.”

“For this year’s International Women’s Day, She’s Mercedes tells a story of feminine energy and female unity, envisioning a utopian community based on diversity, warm fellowship and
a regal attitude, starring Malaysian musician Yuna.

Between cactus fields and green hills a tale unfolds that plays with the viewers’ perception of dream and reality. Over the course of the film, an invisible bond brings the four protagonists together. They meet in a magical place that serves as a visual interpretation of an inspiring, connecting and empowering bond between our heroines. Only to be interrupted by a surprising, final plot twist that sheds new light on their friendship…

She’s Mercedes is an initiative dedicated to inspiring, connecting and empowering women who are driven to make things happen.”

“When you started out,
You said you’d never look back.
But you had no idea then
That you’d end up here.
How could something so small
Come to this;
You started a time spark
That became a wildfire.”

“While I was cutting this reel, I new something was missing. It such a powerful score which matched the visuals, but I felt like it needed something more. It just felt like I was listening to my favourite a bands songs but the instrumental version… So I hit up my sister and told her I needed some poetry. I needed a voice over for my reel, it was the last peice. The only direction I gave her was to use the visuals ( Fire, eyes, water, or whatever it was ) and create a feeling that was inspiring and true to our story as filmmakers behind “Timelapse”. The last piece of advice I gave her was to not fear the feeling of vulnerability when creating this. I knew she would overthink the project because she was nervous of what I might think of it… but that would kill all creativy, and her ideas would be limited. I told her to write anything that she loved and felt right to her. The result… Being the artistic human that she is, literally 5 hours later I got this recording. The slate was “take two” and she nailed it.”

“The Robey Hotel in Chicago sits high above the famous six corners in Wicker Park/Buck Town neighborhoods. The Robey Hotel was recently renovated for the past few years and transformed from the old Northwest Tower into an amazing place to visit and stay. This was a focused piece upon the top of The Robey and the spectacular views.”

Excerpt from “What Is Reality?” by Alan Watts:

“It is that our attention is captured by the figure rather then the background and by the relatively enclosed area rather than the diffuse area and by something that’s moving rather than something that is still. To all the phenomena that attract our attention in this way, we attribute a higher degree of reality than we do the things we don’t notice.”
