Blanes Breath Cinematic Poem Short Film Directed by Alex Soloviev 2017

“There are special places when you arrive there, you feel like you’re at home. I was in one. A small town in Spain, Blanes. Quiet and cozy in the off-season when there’re no packs of tourists on a big buses. This is more personal video. There is no many complicated transitions and shots, but rather attempt to convey the feeling of coziness of this place.”

“Time In Eternity” by Tom Merrill

When you were as an angel in my arms,
Had laid your bare head just below my chin,
Your length pressed up to mine, entrusting charms
My whole youth’s starward longing could not win;
With still the murmur of your love in me,
Miracle-tones of all my lifelong hope,
I wished that there might start eternity
And seal forever that sweet envelope;

And as it did, my thoughts are now for you
As every star is blotted by the sun,
And so the sun itself
Has perished too,
And with it, every dream of mine
But one.

“Stars May Fall In One’s Hand” by A. S. J. Tessimond

When you are with me, I, who am all too sane, am a
little mad.

Through you I see colours where yesterday were grey,
black, white, and tomorrow perhaps grey, black, white
will be again.

Your eyes reflect impossible towns, trees, flowers,
inconceivable lights and faces.

Your voice holds incredible echoes of unlikely words.

Your time has no days, hours, minutes;

And all things are possible;

And stars, like snow, may fall in one’s hand.

“There’re many places in this world where have you been and missed something that was not included in your tourist guide. When you all of sudden see them, these hidden gems awake you to different points of view by allowing you to transcend your ordinary experiences and imagination. Saw-edged mountain is source of deep impressions caused by the singularity of the place.”

“Haunted Houses” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses. Through the open doors
The harmless phantoms on their errands glide,
With feet that make no sound upon the floors.

We meet them at the door-way, on the stair,
Along the passages they come and go,
Impalpable impressions on the air,
A sense of something moving to and fro.

There are more guests at table than the hosts
Invited; the illuminated hall
Is thronged with quiet, inoffensive ghosts,
As silent as the pictures on the wall.

The stranger at my fireside cannot see
The forms I see, nor hear the sounds I hear;
He but perceives what is; while unto me
All that has been is visible and clear.

We have no title-deeds to house or lands;
Owners and occupants of earlier dates
From graves forgotten stretch their dusty hands,
And hold in mortmain still their old estates.

The spirit-world around this world of sense
Floats like an atmosphere, and everywhere
Wafts through these earthly mists and vapours dense
A vital breath of more ethereal air.

Our little lives are kept in equipoise
By opposite attractions and desires;
The struggle of the instinct that enjoys,
And the more noble instinct that aspires.

These perturbations, this perpetual jar
Of earthly wants and aspirations high,
Come from the influence of an unseen star
An undiscovered planet in our sky.

And as the moon from some dark gate of cloud
Throws o’er the sea a floating bridge of light,
Across whose trembling planks our fancies crowd
Into the realm of mystery and night,—

So from the world of spirits there descends
A bridge of light, connecting it with this,
O’er whose unsteady floor, that sways and bends,
Wander our thoughts above the dark abyss.

Malta Cinematic Poem Short Film Featuring Poem Where The Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein Directed by Alex Soloviev

Poem Read by:  Tom O’Bedlam

“Where The Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein

“There is a place where the sidewalk ends
and before the street begins,
and there the grass grows soft and white,
and there the sun burns crimson bright,
and there the moon-bird rests from his flight
to cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
and the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
we shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow
and watch where the chalk-white arrows go
to the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
and we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
for the children, they mark, and the children, they know,
the place where the sidewalk ends.”

“Like You” by Roque Dalton

Like you I
love love, life, the sweet smell

of things, the sky-
blue landscape of January days.

And my blood boils up
and I laugh through eyes
that have known the buds of tears.
I believe the world is beautiful
and that poetry, like bread, is for everyone.

And that my veins don’t end in me
but in the unanimous blood
of those who struggle for life,
love,
little things,
landscape and bread,
the poetry of everyone.
