“Dandelion” by Aurora Ovan

Hey, you. Let me talk to you about something: one day, you will die.
Shh, don’t be afraid… You will be the Earth, you will be the Universe, again.
Your son will grab your old hand, dried as an autumn leaf, your brain will search for some answers, as a bottle that floats in the sea.
But let me ask you something: are you living, now?

Shh, listen.
Your heart. Have you ever touched its beating?
Have you ever listened to its steps?
Listened. Listened to the beat of your lover. Listened to the laugh of the creatures. Listened to the words of your planet.
Shh…
You are alive.

Shh… Feel this cold ground.
There will be Sun on these blades of grass, there will be clouds during the flight of the seagulls.
You’ll have to touch this moment with peace.
Shh… Respect your sensitivity.
You are alive.

So, run. Run through the drops of the rain. If you’ll get wet, you will dry.
Give your strongest petals to the ones who fear the blossom.
Endorse the thin cortex of the ones who pretend to be oaks.
Love.
Love the exitence of all the cells.

Shh… Let me remind you something: one day, you will die.
Your time will have passed away, as a dandelion in a blow, your mind will read the pages, writing your signature at the end.

But let me ask you something: are you living, now?

The Weight of History Cinematic Poem Short Film Featuring Poet Robert Lowell Directed by Ben Jacks in 2015.JPG

“This experimental short was filmed in Florence, Italy. While traveling on honeymoon with my wife I was humbled by the abundance of historical artwork, architecture, and the religious presence within this city. There is a dark beauty there that is leveling to witness.

What I hope to represent, is the humility experienced in the presence of such environments and our place within history. Our smallness in time, contrasting to the beauty of what we can create, that stands witness so many years after.”

“HISTORY” by Robert Lowell

History has to live with what was here,
clutching and close to fumbling all we had–
it is so dull and gruesome how we die,
unlike writing, life never finishes.
Abel was finished; death is not remote,
a flash-in-the-pan electrifies the skeptic,
his cows crowding like skulls against high-voltage wire,
his baby crying all night like a new machine.
As in our Bibles, white-faced, predatory,
the beautiful, mist-drunken hunter’s moon ascends–
a child could give it a face: two holes, two holes,
my eyes, my mouth, between them a skull’s no-nose–
O there’s a terrifying innocence in my face
drenched with the silver salvage of the morn frost.

Crossing...Italy Cinematic Time-Lapse Short Film Directed By Shawn Reeder

“After a life changing trip in Rome last summer, I knew I had to return and capture the beauty of Italy through timelapse cinematography. This winter I spent almost 3 weeks wondering around the north of Italy exploring the ancient cities of Florence and Venice, discovering the quaint villages of the Italian Riviera, and reveling in the beauty of the Italian Alps. This short film captures the spirit of my trip crossing Italy.”
