“Bloch is one of the leading international brands in ballet. With over 90 years of dedication to artists, we set out to create a work that honored this legacy and commitment to the preservation of the arts. With a 35mm film grant from the Kodak Motion Picture Film group, we focused on the introspective loneliness and poetic nature of ballet set against the words of Robin Williams to his students in the film ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ ”

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. So medicine, law, business, engineering… these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love… these are what we stay alive for.”

“Your Verse”: Cinematic Poem Apple iPad Air Commercial Featuring Walt Whitman Narrated By Robin Williams (2014)

Apple is drawing on Robin Williams’ performance in Dead Poets Society to create an air of inspiration and creativity around the tablet. Titled Your Verse, the clip looks to make Whitman’s O Me! O Life! the focal point of the campaign, and includes stories from other people using the Air out in the world.

Produced by:  Apple Inc.

Narrated by:  Robin Williams

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.

And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?”

Answer. That you are here – that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”
