“‘ALL IS SILENT’. This is the opening line to the new short film by Film Maker Frederick Shelbourne and Art Director Frances Von Flemming. It begins with a piece of Italian literature, a phrase from the melodious poet Giosuè Carducci in his harmonious Ode al Clitumno; a classical poem about a place that exists in a secret spot in Umbria, a place that has been the inspiration of great poets  like Lord Byron. …The film is narrated through a multitude of senses where an entwining moving image , music, literature and photography portray the essence of the story line.

Narrated through the eyes of Filippo Scarafia (Italian actor from the film ‘Terraferma’ by Emanuele Crialese – Film presented at the 68th Venice International Film Festival, winning the special jury prize) it is a passionate  journey, discovering a mystic presence that is Umbria, luring its audience to come and find the green lands of this incredible region of Italy.”

The Cascata delle Marmore (Marmore’s Falls) is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans. Its total height is 165 m (541 feet), making it the tallest man-made waterfall in the world.

The legend tells that a nymph named Black fell in love with a handsome shepherd Velino. But Juno, jealous of this love, transformed the nymph into a river, which took the name of Black. Then Velino, not to lose his beloved, threw himself from the Marmore cliff. This leap, repeated for eternity, is now the Marmore Falls.

“This is a piece about Umbria, a region south of Tuscany in Italy, where everything revolves around the “Lago Trasimeno”, a lake called the green diamond. I wanted to recreate the look of ancient landscape paintings as I felt it was fitting perfectly to the dramatic weather we had over the course of the 14 days..
